Kenzie Reimagined

The Kenzie Reimagined (Stock color is Black chassis, Black transformer cover and Black Cage with Black Mesh). Alternate colors are available for custom ordering at additional costs.

The Kenzie headphone amplifier is one of our most loved and oldest designs; its inspired by the darling circuit. The outstanding performance of the Kenzie headphone amplifier is made possible with custom wound ultra-high quality output transformers providing amazing frequency extension.

The Kenzie does not use a voltage network, and has more than enough power to drive even the most difficult headphones. We chose 32 ohms and 300-ohm output taps to allow use with the widest variety of headphones; everything from Grado Labs, HiFiMan, Audeze, DCA headphones, Abyss, and ZMF.

The Kenzie is one of the sweetest-sounding headphone amplifiers on the market. The 1626 is commonly referred to as the “Poor Man’s 300B”; offering a similar level of warmth, texture, and soundstage depth.

The 1626 is a WWII-era tube that was used as a transmitter tube in radar installations. The circuit is shy on pure output, but offers layers of texture and drive. We pair the circuit with a massive power transformer and choke for ultra-quiet operation. As with all our products, parts selection is crucial. We do not chose based on price, but for the best quality and synergy.

The Kenzie being one of our oldest and most loved amps had stayed faithful to its form. In so doing, it sacrificed features and modern touches. The Kenzie Reimagined transitions the Kenzie away from the wood chassis form onto a modern chassis with optimizations for performance and usability being paramount. The original Kenzie circuit is detailed, warm and versatile but the chassis was its greatest limitation. The new Kenzie Reimagined allows us to take all the variants we have produced over the years and to unify them onto 1 chassis/amp with an expanded vision.

The Kenzie Reimagined has new output transformers allowing for 8ohm speakers, 32ohm 4pin XLR output and 300ohm XLR outputs. The speaker taps can be deactivated in the same manner as the Nautilus and Red October. We have positioned the Kenzie Reimagined to be the gateway product to ampsandsound vision and voicing. Pair the Kenzie Reimagined with efficient speakers and your favorite headphones for a bespoke system with the warm and detailed sound the Kenzie is now famous for delivering.

The Kenzie Reimagined notable takeaways include increased power output, reduced noise floor, increased bandwidth. The 9pin input tube being a 12AX7 allows was expanded tube rolling.

The real super power of the Kenzie Reimagined is the ability to roll any 12A*7 input tube with WWII 1626 tubes which are still bargains and more than 80 years old.
