The Leeloo Reimagined returns to the much beloved Leeloo/Pendant circuit while pairing the modern conveniences and build qualities made famous by the Nautilus and Red October headphone amps. By numbers the Leeloo represents ampsandsound’s most popular product with more than 300 examples made. While the original Pendant and Leeloo’s were amazing performers and values, the aluminum chassis, wood platform had significant limitations. Moving to the steel chassis of the like the Nautilus and in the same form factor as the Stereo 17, Badlands and Kenzie Reimagined, The Leeloo Reimagined gets the same usability of found in reference level ampsandsound products. Providing dedicated tapps for 8ohm speakers, 32ohm universal 4pin XLR or 300ohm 4pin XLR, the Leeloo delivers dead silent operation and 3watts of grunt. The combination of low noise floor and massive power is what made the Leeloo so widely sought after. Advances in mechanical isolation have lowered the noise floor further, increase separation and detail retrieval. The switchable speaker output allows for integrated system use, deselecting speakers and choosing a dedicated headphone listening experience without cable changes.
The Leeloo Reimagined is one of our most loved designs. The outstanding performance of the Leelee headphone amplifier is made possible with newly updated custom wound ultra-high quality output transformers providing amazing frequency extension.
The Leeloo does not use a voltage divider network to modulate impedances; rather we took the more bespoke approach of winding the secondary impedance to match the headphones voice coil for the most efficient voltage transfer. The significant design decision is central to ampsandsound house sound and gives the listener the feeling they are directly strapped to the tubes with little between the listener and the music. The Leeloo is a powerhouse with more than enough power to drive even the most difficult headphones. We chose 32 ohms and 300-ohm output taps to allow use with the widest variety of headphones; everything from Grado Labs, HiFiMan, Audeze, DCA headphones, Abyss, and ZMF.
The Leeloo Reimagined has new output transformers allowing for 8ohm speakers, 32ohm 4pin XLR output and 300ohm XLR outputs. The speaker taps can be deactivated in the same manner as the Nautilus and Red October. We have positioned the Leeloo Reimagined to be the every persons choice, delivering performance without compromise. Sonically its less thick/dense than our house voicing with more air, and special cues. While being tube rectified, it is still ultra fast and provides a linear sonic representation top to bottom. Pair the Leeloo Reimagined with efficient speakers and your favorite headphones for a bespoke system, delivering tube harmonics without overt tonal weight/color.
The Leeloo Reimagined notable takeaways include increased power output, reduced noise floor, increased bandwidth. The 9pin input tube being a 12AX7 allows was expanded tube rolling.
The real super power of the Leeloo Reimagined is the ability to roll any 12A*7 input tube with the ubiquitous 6bq5 power tubes which are still bargains and more than 60 years old.
